BRAZILIAN RECORD LABEL
MUSIC : EVENTS: CULTURE : FILM : COMMUNITY Established in 2006, Afro:Baile was created by Arizona DJ & long time World Music enthusiast Miguel Ivery (aka DJ Seduce). Afro:Baile first began as a monthly event for international touring artists and local artist to come together and per- form Afro‐World Music, Dance and Cultural traditions. The primary focus of the event was to introduce the infectious grooves of Africa and how African culture had influenced the sounds of Latin America, the Caribbean, Cuba, and more specifically Brazil and the Afro‐Brazilian music style. In the first year of the event launching, Afro:Baile received the Best of Phoenix award for Best New World Music Event, presented by the Phoenix Newtimes. The event, also hosted to a number of international and national touring acts including reggae legend “General Smiley” of famed dancehall originators “Michigan & Smiley”, as well as Jamaica’s Yellow Wall Dub Squad, Sao Paulo’s Banda Som Brasil, Grammy Nominated Latin band “Nostros” and members of the B‐Side Players (Concord Picante recording artists). With growing popularity among local, national and global ommunities, Afro:Baile began to take form as the central hub of global music & afro‐culture in Phoenix, Arizona. Resident DJ & event founder DJ Seduce, began a cultural crusade to bring some of the best upcoming and established acts from across the globe from places such as Brazil, Africa, Latin America, Mexico and Jamaica. As 2007 took form, DJ Seduce decided to put together a CD compilation of past guests of the event, to showcase some of the future leaders of the global movement. As the CD took form, DJ Seduce recognized the need to release the CD on an independent level. With that idea, in February 2008, he took his love for World music and Culture and officially launched the label Afro:Baile Records as a spin off to the event, and an imprint for Brazilian Music and beyond. Afro:Baile’s primary focus is discovering today’s new talented musicians, bands and Dj’s from across the various regions of Brazil while introducing a new type of music series called Brazil:Sambossica, a feature style of Brazilian music that brings together Samba, Bossa Nova and Electronica for a Modern take on today’s new meets old Brazilian music styles. The label also continues to introduce and feature select artist’s albums and release’s on both CD & vinyl. Today, Afro:Baile is an internationally recognized record label & the one of the only inde- pendent Brazilian music record labels in the USA. Afro:Baile has also garnered world wide credibility for introducing and delivering the next generation of the "Now Sound" of Brazil and beyond. Whether in Media, on Radio and or with DJ’s around the world, Afro:Baile has managed to go beyond the norm in creating a unique and forward thinking sound for the next dimension of Brazilian music. | Reviews:• "The best compilations at this time for the now sound of
